Gynaecomastia
It’s Bothersome, but Treatable
Gynaecomastia is the overgrowth of breast tissue in males, resulting in breast enlargement. It is more common in, though not limited to, adolescents and elderly men. It can be a distressing and embarrassing experience. Possible causes are hormone imbalances, aging, certain types of medications and drugs such as steroid and estrogen.
Don’t hesitate to reach out for help. If you’ve had gynaecomastia for a long time and it hasn’t improved with treatment, male breast reduction may be suggested as a way to reduce excess breast tissue for a flatter, better-contoured chest.
The surgery is a very low risk procedure. It removes excess fat with liposuction, and certain cases involve removal of excess skin and tissues.
